Y/N closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions. Her chin quivered, and more tears streamed down her face, but she pressed on.
“The more we saw each other, the more my hurt and humiliation faded, replaced by new feelings. I started falling for you the night we went to your friends’ restaurant. I saw you as someone entirely different, not the boy who tried to embarrass me in front of everyone, which you obviously didn’t do. You were the guy I always wanted to fall in love with—sweet, funny, intelligent, caring, and much more. And I did fall in love with you, but by then, it was too late to confess who I really was. I was selfish, though. I wanted to save as many new memories of you as possible to comfort myself when I came home and felt lonely again—to erase what I thought you’d done to me.”
